Buying Guide

Buying Premium Outdoor Living Products

Outdoor kitchens, pergolas, spas, and fire features are significant investments. This guide covers what to expect before, during, and after your purchase so there are no surprises at delivery.

1. Lead Times

Most products in our catalog ship from manufacturer or distributor warehouses. Lead times vary by product and availability:

  • In-stock items: typically 1–2 weeks to ship
  • Made-to-order or special configurations: 4–12 weeks depending on the manufacturer
  • Custom or built-in outdoor kitchen components: lead times vary — contact us before ordering

Current estimated lead times are shown on each product page where available. For time-sensitive projects, contact us before placing your order.

2. Delivery Preparation

Large items such as outdoor kitchen islands, pergola kits, and spas are delivered via freight carrier, not standard parcel delivery. Please prepare accordingly:

  • Freight deliveries are curbside by default — the carrier will bring items to the end of your driveway
  • Ensure clear access for a large truck (typically 53-foot trailer)
  • Have help available to move items from the curb to your installation site
  • Inspect all items carefully before signing the delivery receipt — note any visible damage on the bill of lading
  • Do not refuse delivery for minor packaging damage; document it and contact us within 48 hours

White-glove or threshold delivery may be available for select products at additional cost. Contact us to arrange.

3. Installation Responsibility

Lone Ember Living sells products only — installation is the buyer's responsibility unless otherwise stated. We strongly recommend:

  • Hiring a licensed contractor for any permanent structures (pergolas, built-in kitchens, shade structures)
  • Verifying local building codes and permit requirements before installation
  • Following all manufacturer installation instructions to preserve warranty coverage

Improper installation can void manufacturer warranties. We are happy to provide manufacturer documentation to your contractor upon request.

4. Utility Connections

Products requiring gas, electrical, or plumbing connections must be installed by licensed professionals:

  • Gas grills and fire features: natural gas or propane connections require a licensed plumber or gas fitter
  • Outdoor kitchens with appliances: may require both gas and electrical rough-in
  • Spas and hot tubs: require a dedicated electrical circuit installed by a licensed electrician — typically 240V/50A GFCI
  • Saunas: electrical requirements vary by model — confirm with your electrician before purchase

We recommend confirming utility requirements with your contractor before placing your order.

5. Warranty Coverage

All products are covered under their respective manufacturer warranties. Terms vary by brand and product category. Lone Ember Living will assist in facilitating warranty claims on your behalf.

For full details, see our Warranty Information page.
